Gareth Gregory

As Chief Financial Officer, my role is to ensure that UK Biobank has the financial strategy to deliver our ambitious plans and maximise the impact of this unique resource.  In addition to Finance, I have executive responsibility for People and Development, Procurement, and Quality and Risk.  So I also spend time ensuring that we have the people we need to deliver our strategy, and that we run our growing organisation effectively and efficiently.

Whilst I completed an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences, my career started as a chartered accountant at the UK’s National Audit Office, and subsequently at Deloitte New Zealand.  I’ve since focussed most of my career working in public benefit and mission-focussed roles. Before joining UK Biobank, I was the Director of Finance at the Disclosure and Barring Service and previously held senior finance leadership roles at Auckland Council in New Zealand
