Caroline Clark
Programme Manager & Head of PMO
What I do at UK Biobank
As the Head of PMO my role is very diverse. I lead a team of PMO professionals to set the standards and drive the processes that our projects work to and support the business in delivering a wide variety of projects from simple business changes to large projects that turn biological samples into data. Alongside this as the Programme Manager I get to lead transformational programmes of work for the organisation that cross many areas of the business.
Why UK Biobank
UK Biobank is a major contributor to scientific discoveries that improve human health, I know that my work at UK Biobank has and will continue to advance UK Biobanks value as a research resource that contributes significantly to the work that scientists undertake. Being a small and close knit organisation allows you to get direct recognition for your contributions
Who am I?
I started my career in hands-on Operational roles before I moved into process improvement, business re-engineering and then project management - but in the very different industry of Container Shipping! In 2018 I switched industry and joined UK Biobank as a Project Manager to bring online the Bristol Imaging Centre and from there I have progressed to my current role.
Advice for prospective candidates
Research UK Biobank but don’t be put off by the science; whilst we are amazingly proud of what we do, how the data we collate or generate health research data that will make massive impact on the future of Health Research; we can only do that because we have a team from diverse background that bring practical, transferrable skills and experience with them.
