Steven Jones

As Head of Estates and Technical Services, my role is to lead and support the Facilities and office management team to ensure all sites remain operational.
 
This includes management of the contracted works, planned preventative maintenance and essential repairs of equipment across multiple sites. 

I lead a small team of electrical and mechanical engineers looking after hundreds of pieces of plant equipment, samples storage systems and the critical services supporting these systems. I also look after the office management team who cover all the soft service aspects of our new state of the art Greenheys facility.

We work with all departments from labs to imaging to ensure all projects are delivered on time, in budget, to a required quality level and in line with health and safety requirements.

I am a qualified mechanical engineer who has worked at Biobank for the last 18 years, prior to that I have held multiple position with blue chip manufacturing companies working all across the world, this involved setting up new facilities, transferring sites to a new country and running process improvements projects. 
  
I joined the UK Biobank as the lab and facilities manager during to original cohort ensuring all samples were successfully processed and stored in line with our ISO procedures.
