Steven Jones

I have worked at UK Biobank for the last 16 years with roles as the Laboratory and Facilities Manager, Operations Manager and more recently Head of Estates and Technical Services. I run a small but growing department, which looks after all the technical aspects of the business including everything from complex and unique automated ultra-low temperature cryostorage systems and MRIs, to building maintenance and services, asset and stock management. 80 sample storage systems, laboratories and clinical robotics and equipment.

I am a qualified mechanical Engineer who spent many years in the manufacturing sector of the industry, starting as an engineer before moving in to management.

I believe the person is more important than qualifications, if candidates have a ‘can do’, approach along with a technical base to work from they can achieve any number of goals within their time at UK Biobank.
